Bioracer Cooling Top

Most technical textiles are developed to dry quickly. However, in hot and dry conditions we are looking for a way where the moisture is retained for longer periods in order to form a cooling barrier. The principle that we have used is based on an old desert nomad practice to cool water, by wrapping damp cloths around a ceramic vase. The resulting slow evaporation ensures that the water in the urn remains cool. This is the concept that we have applied to the Intercooler Top. Just before the start of the race, the top is immersed in ice water. Due to slow evaporation, the ice-water is able to cool the body for several hours. During the race the top is recharged with water bottles.
